Today, I notice.
Spring is coming. The light gives it away. Like Fall sneaking in: A little dimmer every day, Daylight Savings ends... Suddenly driving home in the dark. It's a hard adjustment That first dark day. Traffic is awful. Everybody realizes, They work too late, and head home on time. The Spring is no different. Not so dark in the morning. Slowly at first. Trees and buildings take shape, Each morning while making coffee, Or pouring a bowl of cereal. Until... One day, A pink streak greets you. This evening on the train. Looking out the window, And not seeing my face, Staring back. I see light. Gone by the time I get home, But it's here now, At the start of my ride. It will hang on, A little longer each day. The time will change soon. The dark will get a reprieve. It will not last. The sun always wins. Spring is coming. Again.
