I absolutely love it when stories like this one from CNN.com come out”
“FBI: Rehnquist withdrew from painkillers”
Seems the former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court was a little looped for about ten years.
Of course, there is nothing wrong with a bad reaction to some ill-prescribed painkillers and it’s good that Rehnquist was being supervised in a hospital when he went off the meds, but it’s still pretty funny (and slightly terrifying) to think about one of the most powerful men in the country running around in his pajamas and ranting about CIA conspiracies.
As is usually the case, the most interesting part of the article is buried near the bottom of the page:
“In one previously secret memo from 1971, an FBI official wrote, ‘No persons interviewed during our current or 1969 investigation furnished information bearing adversely on Rehnquist’s morals or professional integrity; however …’ The next third of the page is blacked out, under the disclosure law’s exception for matters of national security.”
You just gotta love that whoever was blacking out the report forget to ink over the “however…” part. What on Earth could they have been planning to say next?
You can have some real fun with this:
- O.J. Simpson was acquitted of murdering his ex-wife and her boyfriend, however…
- Pastor Ted Haggard says that homosexuality is a sin, however…
- President Bush says that we are winning the war in Iraq, however…
